THE STORY OF ASPEN ESSENCE

hi! I'm hannah winde, the maker & owner of aspen essence. I live in the beautiful city of nashville, tn, with my husband and our two little dogs. and I make soap for a living!

here's a little background on how we got here: 

while on christmas break in december 2020, I came to the abrupt realization that I had no idea why I was at college or what I wanted to do with my life.  so I made the hard decision to drop out of my sophomore year of college and move back home. 

with the time away from school, I decided to tap into my life-long passion - creativity. one day, I decided on a whim to teach myself how to make all-natural soaps and candles. I filled my cart with supplies at hobby lobby and spent pretty much every penny I had to my name. and just like that, my new obsession had begun.

I began selling my handmade creations to friends and family members as a way to earn a bit of christmas money. this little venture kept me busy for the whole month of december! I am so grateful for the many people who supported me so generously during that first month. 

after the initial christmas rush subsided, I made the decision to take my little business more seriously. I opened my etsy shop in early January 2021, and spent weeks experimenting with and perfecting new products.

I downloaded tiktok one day (even though I always said I wouldn't). without too much thought, I uploaded my first video showcasing my products; and I was shocked that within a day, that first video was able to reach over a thousand people around the world who had never heard of me!

it's safe to say that tiktok changed my life forever. my first video went viral in may 2021, and my products have been flying off the shelves ever since! I hired my first employee in october of 2022, moved into a commercial space in january 2023, and my first ever storefront is officially opening in brentwood, tn on september 9th!

there are so many exciting things in the works, and I am so excited to see what the future holds.

why all-natural?

when I initially began experimenting with bath and body products, I fell in love with the idea of using all-natural ingredients and essential oils. as someone who has struggled with chronic pain and anxiety for years, finding natural solutions has been such a relief. I have benefited greatly from making the switch from traditional (toxic) fragrance oils to essential oils in my home and everyday life. in addition to essential oils, the use of all-natural butters, oils, and milks has been amazing for my skin! I love that I am able to make my own products, feel good about using them, and see the difference that they are making for me and my complexion. 

and I’m not the only one who has been impacted by switching to the natural route! since my launch, I have received so many amazing testimonials about my products helping with pain, dryness, irritation, acne and acne scars, eczema, rosacea, and more.

so the real question is… why not all-natural? I want to share the benefits of these amazing non-toxic ingredients with as many people as I can!
